“Without mathematics, there's nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers”, said Shakuntala Devi, the world-renowned mathematician.

We at Litera Valley Zee School, Hosur believe that mathematics does indeed make the world go round, and have engaged with a unique online mathematic learning portal, through which children can practice concepts endlessly. The differentiating factor about this learning portal is that, as the child practices, and answers the questions posed, information is gathered about the child’s ability and understanding of the concept, and the next problems are designed based on the child’s skill level. There are reward points to be won, and leadership boards to be attained, thus spurring the child to practice more and get better at mathematics, and understand that ...

“We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world.” – David Warlick

Today’s generation of child is far superior to all of us adults in the use of technology and technological electronic devices. It is this premise that had schools first begin with the use of Smart Boards to engage the child, and bring in innovation and interest into the heretofore boring chalk-and-talk method of teaching. Litera Valley Zee School, Hosur has gone a step ahead and introduced tablet-based learning for all children, right from Pre-KG.

The immediacy of holding a personal electronic device that can make a textbook come alive with animation, or the joy of receiving instant feedback and scores on an evaluation is made possible by using tablets in the classroom. The teacher has complete control, and the children can only open the page that the teacher has made accessible, thereby ensuring that the children do not accidentally ‘browse’ and get distracted. Further, additional video content and animation is added to the textual content to make any and every subject, chapter and verse, come alive for the child. Teachers can conduct quick checks on the understanding of the children by broadcasting a quiz at the end of the lesson, so that they would know the level of understanding of each child, and can accordingly plan the next review.

The school has a bank of more than 100 tablets that are used in rotation by all the children of the school. Parents can also avail of the opportunity to buy these educational tablets, that come pre-loaded with the academic content for the current year. top

“What is drama but life with the dull bits cut out” – Alfred Hitchcock

"The future of our nation depends on our ability to create-and to be creative. During the coming decades our most important national resources will be human resources. If our nation is to continue to meet the challenges of the future, today's schools need to develop creative leaders."

Litera Valley Zee School, Hosur has always encouraged active participation in the Performing Arts, and has three Dance instructors to teach the children both Western and Classical Dance. The children also have an hour-long session of formal training in drama every week, in order to build their expression and creativity. This also enables some of the more shy and reserved students to don a persona that is not their own, and gain confidence in borrowed garb! Thus, the involvement of a child in drama enables the child to develop his/ her communication skills, problem solving skills, creative and imaginative skills, social awareness and empathy. top

In Litera Valley Zee School, Hosur, Art & Craft education is not merely a hobby or extra-curricular activity. It is an essential component of the skills that make the entire leader – aesthetic skills inspire one to work and learn better, and in a more effective manner. The children here are encouraged to express themselves in a variety of media – paper, cloth, canvas; and they also love working with their hands and letting their imagination take the lead.

Parents need to be aware that children learn a lot more from graphic sources now than in the past. Children need to know more about the world than just what they can learn through text and numbers. Art education in our school teaches students how to interpret, criticize, and use visual information, and how to make choices based on it.

The benefits of including art & craft for kids help them in,

  • Extending their thinking across multiple patterns of intelligence
  • Develop higher thinking skills
  • Enhance multicultural understandings
  • Build self esteem
  • Gain positive emotional responses to learning
  • Engage through a variety of learning styles

Researchers suggest that children exposed to arts and crafts are able to think "out of the box" since a lot of working with hands involve figuring out how to solve problems creatively. Like any other subjects, art is also a subject in which a child can see his/her reflection and WE make it

If there is a way to express oneself freely without boundaries and without restrictions, it is by dance. The children of Litera Valley Zee School, Hosur are all adept at dancing, be it western or classical, and groove to any beat or rhythm completely in sync.

The three different dance rooms and dance teachers have little time on their hands, ensuring that the children stay fit and flexible by learning to dance to a variety of beats. Any event in the school, be it Independence Day or Sports Day, sees the dance troupe come out in full force, taking the audience by storm, charming them with the innovation of their choreography.

The dance classroom is more than a studio; it is a laboratory. It is the training ground for an unforeseeable future.

  • Dance matters because it teaches kids to think and respond to the world around them.
  • Dance matters because through it we know our minds, our bodies, and our spirits.
  • Dance matters because it demands that we set goals and see them through to our greatest extent.
  • Dance matters because it directs us to depend on ourselves.
  • Dance matters because it keeps us moving.
  • Dance matters because it demands focus.

We lay a platform to our children here to explore and experience the demands of dance to enhance their intrinsic talent to the greatest extent. top

Keeping the body and mind fit and flexible, in order to enable the children to focus and develop concentration – a specially appointed full-time yoga coach on campus ensures that children maintain razor-sharp focus and suppleness of body to take on all

Hands-on Science Activities

“Science walks forward on two feet, namely theory and experiment. But continuous progress is only made by the use of both” – Robert A Millikan

Practical Science in the Secondary School is expected and acceptable, but practical science for primary and middle school children is something that is truly groundbreaking and innovative. Litera Valley Zee School, Hosur has always been a pioneer and champion of learning with joy and understanding learning. Application of science needs to be witnessed and experienced to be understood. Therefore, the school has brought in several practical science experiments that need to be conducted by the students themselves, right from Std I, in order to ensure thorough and practical understanding of science and its applications.

Every child in the school gets at least 20-30 practical science kits that they can work on individually, to demonstrate the concepts that they have learnt about in the classroom. In addition, the children are encouraged to maintain a record book of their observations and inferences, thus inculcating the scientific temper in children from an early age.

Personal Safety Education

It is part of a child’s holistic development to be aware of personal safety habits. The school ensures that every class is instructed in personal safety, hygiene and rules. Every child is encouraged to practise healthy and safe habits at all times, including wearing seat belts in the buses, washing hands before and after food, etc.

Life Skills & Value Education

Every child of the school is taught about our culture and values. It is a heritage that we hand over to the children for posterity, and we must ensure that the future generation is not merely brain-smart and soulless. The school inculcates discipline and values in every child to meet its mission of ensuring that we create good citizens for the future.
